Standing pursuits

This is the latest incarnation of the Montreal.com domain thrown up into the galaxy of the Internet.

We are a domain with a speckled history, yet the strength we've maintained throughout is a constant thread of ideas that stretch back into the mists before the incept of the Internet itself. Those of us who remain in the core group have been with Montreal.com since the domain was registered during the infancy of the Net, and our involvement with digital communications extend back before the Net itself, to the time of small local digital communities built around early telephone modems. From that period certain notions about electronic media have germinated in our minds and remain the cornerstones of how we treat the whole subject of communications. In point form these ideas are:

* Identity
* Community
* Nobility

We believe first of all that the furtherance of communications on the Internet is a noble pursuit. It is the reason we are all still doing this, that it is worthwhile to produce a platform which enables us to talk to each other about what we find interesting, about who we are and how we live our lives, and what we think in general of the world around us.

That is to say, those age old questions we all have remain with us however modern and futuristic we become: Who am I; Why am I here; Where am I going?

Who knows? But it is something that is fascinating to look into, because we each of us have an individual story with varied outlooks, and we all come from different backgrounds and live in diverse communities. Montreal.com is a city domain, so for us the subject is centered in the Montreal area, and Montreal remains as it has been, a conglomerate of many, many different social and ethnic groups.

It is our purpose to try to bring to the Internet voices from all our peoples and societies. This is why we're here.

It is you. You are the identities and the communities of our Montreal, and we are all noble and worthwhile.
